"Surveying and excavating an Ancient and Byzantine 'provincial backwater' in Boeotia – intriguing results" by Archibald Dunn, Researcher at the University of Birmingham

Ithaca Birmingham joins forces with the Greek Club and invites you to a unique journey in history! Our guest speaker Dr Archibald Dunn will talk about his own research and excavations at the ancient and Byzantine ruins of Boetia. Dr Dunn is a lecturer at the Centre for Byzantine, Ottoman and Modern Greek Studies of the University of Birmingham.

Ας καλωσορίσουμε το Φθινόπωρο! Καθώς τα φύλλα αρχίζουν να κοκκινίζουν και η θερμοκρασία να πέφτει ήρθε η ώρα να ξαναβρεθούμε για να ζεσταθούμε! Ελάτε στη συντροφιά μας για να μοιραστούμε εμπειρίες και αναμνήσεις του καλοκαιριού, αλλά και να κάνουμε σχέδια για τις επόμενες αξέχαστες στιγμές!

Στο συναπάντημα θα παρουσιαστούν οι καλύτερες από τις φωτογραφίες του θερινού διαγωνισμού μας και θα ανακοινωθούν οι νικητές!

Μπείτε στον διαγωνισμό φωτογραφίας μας και αναδείξετε τις ομορφιές της Ελλάδος και της Κύπρου την πιο μαγευτική εποχή τους! Απαθανατίστε κάθε στιγμή του καλοκαιριού, από τα τιρκουάζ νερά και τις χρυσαφένιες παραλίες έως τους αρχαίους ναούς λουσμενους στο φεγγαρόφως, τα έθιμα του δεκαπενταύγουστου και τα τοπικά πανηγύρια!

6/6/2023: We’re delighted to have received £500 of funding for Ithaca’s Greek Dancing Group through @Localgiving’s Magic Little Grants Fund which is supported by players of @PostcodeLottery!

“Ithaca”, Birmingham’s Greek Cultural Society has received £500 from Localgiving and Postcode Local Trust. The funding boost will support Ithaca Birmingham to cover the cost of hiring a dancing room for 13 weeks!

Greek dancing is a joyous physical activity which improves health through exercise, but also mental wellbeing through the creation of a small community. The style of dance is inclusive to all backgrounds and abilities and enables the community to participate in a form of art that is centuries old but still vibrant.

Greek Dancing lessons take place every Friday 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Fabric, Level 5 Birmingham Hippodrome, Thorp Street, B5 4TB. All welcome!
